Another year begins. Is it only me, or does this seem to be happening more frequently lately? Not only do the days seem to pass before I make a dent in my to do list, but the years now seem to be flying by. And I thought it was me who was supposed to do the flying! Either I’m slowing down, or there’s just a lot more things to do.

Rant & Raven
On the other hand, could it be I expect too much of myself? What is the deal with all the expectations anyway? Possibly it is better to let go, and go with the flow. Okay, so not possibly, but absolutely it is better to acknowledge that things will unfold in a timely manner. Like I can force the rhythm of the universe! So what if I don’t get all the nigglies done. There, I’ve just composed my new year’s resolution. I believe I’ve resolved to .......not do anything?? Well, not quite.

Does anyone get where I’m going here? I guess it’s becoming increasingly evident to me that it’s not worth living up to other’s expectations. One has to find their own true self, and once that’s been accomplished they are more likely to accept flowing with their own rhythm. Really, isn’t it odd that some of us spend so much time trying to fit in with expectations that are only a perception anyway? Who decides how something should be done, or how someone else should live? Should, should, should! If there’s one thing I’ve been taught it’s that ‘should’ does not exist for me. And by ‘me’ I mean the universal me. That’s right, that includes you!

So, for those of us who seemingly understand this truth, why is it often hard to live by it? Hmmmm, it seems I’ve started the new year off with a whole lot of reflection. Simply stated, understand that you must only be true to yourself. In so doing I believe you will be following your destiny - God’s plan for you. You are unique, and your purpose is totally unique.

So, who cares if you’re a poor organizer. Maybe you’re the creative idea person. What if you hate doing nigglies? True, you probably can’t escape taking care of certain details, but likely you can get help from someone who doesn’t mind dealing with those sorts of things. Remember, for all the things you hate doing, there is someone out there, possibly very near, who doesn’t mind taking care of them. Maybe you only need ask - a family member, a friend, a co-worker. You might be surprised to find they won’t mind helping you out, and that there are things you won’t mind assisting them with in return.

USB
Do you agree the hardest thing to do is ask for help? How much trouble could we save ourselves if only we set ego aside, and took advantage of all the help the universe has provided? Think about it! Do not be afraid to ask. And if the answer is no, what might you learn from that? Maybe you’ve asked the wrong person, and the right one is yet to come along. So, if at first you don’t succeed.....

Well, these are my thoughts for getting the new year off to an amazing start. Focus on the power of now. In fact, that leads me to a book recommendation with exactly that title: “The Power of Now” by Eckart Tolle. If you’re interested in accessing your true power - not getting bogged down with all the ‘shoulds’ - you must learn to live in the now. By focusing only on the present moment, you can thwart all the fears that keep you from doing and being all that you are meant to do and be.

Sweet Soup
By relaxing expectations you can find joy in doing and being. We are such a results oriented society, but when it comes right down to it, it’s not the results that count, but the being, because by being you will do what you are meant to do. And when you are doing what you are meant to do, the results that are meant to happen will happen, exactly as the universe intends.

As Tolle explains, the perception of time is what imposes so many limitations in our lives. What makes time a perception is that we take it from its practical purpose, and live in what he calls psychological time - dwelling on the past and projecting those interpretations into the future.

Peripheral Vision
If this is all too esoteric for you, I recommend you simply be aware and observe. Try this, and you’ll see what I mean. Pay more attention to how things unfold around you. How does your attitude influence the scenario? If you are focused only on the present moment rather than all the fears of the past and future, how much more easily can you go about your life? How many so-called problems can you avoid? In fact, is it really a problem at all? Think of it this way: Challenges can be handled; problems can be avoided.

Okay, enough! If any of this intrigues you - if you think there might be something useful to it - read the book. In fact, I can give you a book list that touches on this concept. All you have to do is ask!

While on the topic of asking, don’t forget to ask Corbins for help. We believe our purpose is to help you with your business needs. Our intention is to carry the products that can assist in your success. We also offer the service and support that enables you to do your business easily - remember, no problems. Please tell us how we can serve you better.
