Welcome to our new
column! We are planning to make this a regular feature in our
newsletter. Hopefully you will find the time in your busy day to
enjoy it. A note of interest regarding the title: Did you know
that the name Corbin comes from the Old French word for raven?
Family Ties
I'd like to start by introducing you to our team. I will start
with the Grand Poobah, Wayne Corbin, whose concept for a
business over 26 years ago started the ball rolling. Since then
he has welcomed (in order of appearance) Lynn, Blair, George,
and Diane to the team. And yes, we are all Corbins! A couple of
us have adopted the name through marriage; the others have Wayne
and his wife, Doris to bestow credit upon. I'll let you figure
it out for yourselves, but now you get the picture - a family
company!
By the way, for those that know him, have any of you seen Blair
lately? You realize that hair-wise he has been a holdout from
the 70's, with the long, shaggy look. Not that there is anything
wrong with that, of course. However not to mention any names -
his wife and some of his kids have been trying unsuccessfully
for years to bring him up to date. Well, an unsuspecting fairy
godfather recently granted them their wish the last time Blair
went for a haircut. Let's just say that after seating himself in
the chair, and asking the fellow to trim the back, he got a
little more than he bargained for. In his own words, “I thought
I went to a hair stylist, but instead I got a barber.”
Mission Possible Although many of you have already come to know us over the
many years that we have been in business, we are pleased to make
the acquaintance of all you newbies out there, and welcome you
to the fold. We hope that in time we will have the pleasure of
meeting you in person. It's what we like to do best, get to know
our clients, and work with them. Always uppermost in our minds
is that we strive to be the kind of company with which we
ourselves would like to do business. Ask around; I know that the
people we have had the pleasure of serving over the years will
agree that we have achieved this. To this end, it is our
pleasure to find products that will meet your desires, as well
as your needs. We search the globe to discover that special
product which we can bring to you for your greatest
satisfaction, saving you the trouble of having to do this for
yourself. Recently, we believe we have accomplished this with
the addition of these two new products to our line:
Rav en Vinyl Cutter: Amazing! An affordable entry level
or perfect back-up machine, it has all of the professional
features you could possibly want at an unbeatable price. You
will not find such a high quality piece of equipment for a
better price anywhere! You have to see it to believe it!!
Encad VinylJet 36 Printer: This is really exciting!
Finally, a large format printer at the right price! And that's
not all! No mess! No fuss! The water base inks require no
special ventilation, and it prints on standard uncoated vinyl!!
Yes, it does banners!!

Open House
Our June Open House was a huge success! It was the place to see
and be seen this season. We enjoyed catching up with old
friends, and meeting new ones. The Encad VJ-36 demonstration was
an event not to be missed, as was the opportunity to win some
wonderful door prizes. I'm sure the lucky winners will agree.
The Vector Art Mega Collection clip-art package went to
Continental Signs, ABC Signs took home , and Columbia Awards is
the proud owner of a new laser level. Congratulations one and
all!
A Raven Eats Crow
(Or How Blair's Day Got Off to a Good Start): For all of
you who have endured Blair's lectures on backing up your data,
here's one for you. The first thing Blair likes to do when he
comes into the office in the morning is check the all-important
email. Well, the other morning his attempt to do just that
proved to be a fatal error when Windows XP informed him that his
email had been corrupted. Zip! Nothing! It was all gone! The
computer wizard had been beaten at his own game. Does he walk
the talk, you ask? Let's just say, for the most part, but maybe
not religiously. So, once again, with the pain of defeat fresh
in his mind, he has asked me to remind you to BACK UP YOUR DATA.
The teacher learned a lesson. And if you were one of the people
who requested a catalogue, and haven't received it yet, would
you mind placing your request again? Sorry about that.
Rising of the Phoenix
We would like to share with you the success story of a wonderful
friend and client, who has met the challenge, and risen from the
ashes literally. He became so successful within a few short
months of purchasing one of our Rav en cutters that he decided
to move ahead and take his part-time home business into the big
league, and open a storefront. After sinking his life savings
into renovations, and just before opening day of his beautiful
new shop, he received the devastating news that it had been
completely destroyed by fire! Upon checking with who he thought
was his insurance agent, he discovered that the policy had never
been processed. Can this story get much worse? No, in fact it
gets better, because with the indomitable and generous spirit
that endeared him to us, although we have never met him in
person, we are pleased to report that he is up and running out
of his home again. We have tried to be of as much assistance to
him as possible in his time of need, but especially we would
like to thank him for all he has done for us during the time
that we have known him. Best wishes, and God bless you, Charles
in your future endeavours.
