I had originally intended
to call this column Raven Droppings, but Blair pooh-poohed that
idea. He said it sounded like a load of crap, so…… Do you get
the impression that Blair more or less calls the shots around
here? Well yeah, it seems that way, but for the most part we
usually appreciate his somewhat pragmatic sort of brilliance -
even if he did stomp all over my creativity. I'm sure I'll get
over it eventually. I'll concede, he probably did have a point
there.
Back to School
Remember your first day back at school every year, when the
teacher had everyone write about what they did over summer
vacation? Well, even if we're not all writing about it, I bet we
are thinking about it. So, I decided that in order not to be
disappointed, I should write about my summer. My teachers would
be so proud of me!
I had an absolutely amazing summer. Blair and I took time off
work the last two weeks in July. What timing! The weather was
incredible! We spent most of the first week in the Alberta
Rockies at Peak Potentials' Enlightened Warrior Training Camp.
While I wouldn't call it a vacation exactly, it was absolutely
one of the most fantastic experiences that either of us has ever
had. As well as pushing us to be the best that we can be, the
teamwork aspect was phenomenal. We learned a lot from that, and
we came away with new attitudes indelibly etched in our minds,
along with a whole lot of new friends. In spite of all the hard
work, and a slight lack of sleep, we found ourselves extremely
invigorated following the camp.
From the Rockies we headed out to the west coast, where we
boarded a ferry for Salt Spring Island. Our favourite place to
stay on the island is the campground at Ruckle Provincial Park,
and once again we weren't disappointed as we pitched our tent
right near the edge of the shore. It's really a little bit of
heaven on earth, with the sailboats on the water and the birds
overhead. Even the ferries that regularly pass by from very
early in the morning to late evening are a beautiful sight. The
lapping of the waves at high tide provides a soothing lullaby by
which to go to sleep at night.
While on the island we were called upon to put our warrior
training to use, when we were on hand to help save a car from
going over an embankment. But that's a story for another time.
Suffice it to say that no one was hurt, and the car escaped
injury as well.
Pure Potentiality
For those of you who are interested, we are once again pleased
to be able to offer you free tickets to hear T. Harv Eker,
president of Peak Potentials speak about the secret psychology
of wealth at the next Millionaire Mind Evening. He will be in
Edmonton on October 1st and Calgary on October 2nd. We highly
recommend attending, and if possible, taking advantage of
subsequent seminar specials that he is bound to present. By the
way, despite the way it may sound, this is not only about making
lots of money, but about being wealthy in every way. Previously
clients and friends who have taken up our suggestion, and gotten
involved with Harv and his programs, have thanked us profusely.
Don't take our word for it; find out for yourselves. Just give
us a call and we will be happy to send out as many tickets as
you require (for Edmonton or Calgary). Or drop in and pick them
up, but please check first that we have enough available at the
time.
As the Raven Flies It's hard to believe, but we are nearing the end of our 27th
year in business. That's right! We have been around for a little
while now. Certainly Corbins is not the new kid on the block; we
have experience, and we have proven ourselves. What you will
find when you do business at Corbins is caring, competency, and
commitment. We believe those are the ingredients that make
dealing with us worthwhile to you.
Dream Team
I would like to emphasize the team approach here at Corbins. It
wouldn't be possible to run this operation on one's own. It's
the balance that keeps things going, with everyone committed to
providing the best service possible. Still, we all bring our own
insights and talents to the table.
I think I have figured out from whom Blair gets his pragmatism.
It seems to be that it must have come from Papa Corbin, Wayne.
When some of us who are extremely conceptual step a little too
far outside the box, Wayne's wisdom brings us back to earth.
George's curiosity about how, what, where, and why things tick
makes him a quick study concerning new technology. This is an
asset both inside the store and out in the field, where he puts
his strengths to use helping you. Then when all of those jobs in
the office start piling up, it's a good thing that Lynn's
around. Capable and hard working, she digs us out from under,
and keeps our heads above, uh, all the paperwork, etc. Let's
see, that leaves me. What is my contribution? (Oops, I'm told my
name has to appear here, and I thought I could continue to
operate under the anonymity of the raven.) Hmmmm well, I, Diane
always have something to say. You be the judge. I like to
imagine that I get people thinking (as long as they're not
thinking 'Why doesn't she shut up?')! Hopefully it's a good
thing.
There you have it our team. You'll find that at Corbins there is
just the right mix of personalities and strengths to provide you
with what you want. Combined with our unparalleled sense of
commitment, we can promise that we'll be there for you. This is
our mission. Please help us to fulfill it by telling us what you
want and what you need. We'd love to hear from you.
